TÓCALA OTRA VEZ SAM: Episodio Segundo – Prince “If I Was Your Girlfriend”

Retomando el primer episodio de esta mini serie, hoy os voy a refrescar una canción del autor de “Nothing Compares 2U”, Prince.

En el punto más alto de su carrera, después de Purple Rain, Kiss o 1999, en 1987 Prince publica “Sign ‘O’ the Times”, su noveno LP para Warner Bros. Para mi la discografía de Prince está llena de grandes temas, pero este trabajo es sin duda mi favorito.

En este doble LP Prince une pop, rock y funk en un abanico que va de lo purista (“Play in the Sunshine”) a lo experimental (“U Got the Look”). El resultado es pura armonía. 

Como parte de la promoción de “Sign ‘O’ the Times” se publicó el single “If I Was Your Girfriend”, mi tema favorito de todo el álbum. En esta canción Prince hace una alarde máximo de lo que le ha definido como showman (que no artista) en toda su carrera: AMBIGÜEDAD. La ropa, el movimiento, las palabras… ¿a quién lo canta? ¿qué significa su anhelo? 

Os dejo para que disfrutéis la versión en directo que hacía del tema en la gira promocional de este LP. Quiero mandar estas ondas musicales en especial a Vulgaria, donde siempre disfrutamos del genio de Minneapolis…
